California's Big Sur coast is a rugged region where mountains plunge dramatically into the Pacific. Described as one of the most spectacular meetings of land and sea in the world, Big Sur is relatively undeveloped and pristine, a natural refuge for wildlife. The region experiences a moderate climate with an average of 300+ days of sunshine a year. Temperatures range between 65 to 85 degrees in summer, and 45 to 70 degrees in winter. Seasonal rain generally falls between November and March, with clear, mild weather between impressive storms.

Ventana is a Monterey-area resort located on 243 acres of meadows and wooded hillsides, 1,200 feet above the Pacific Ocean on the coast. Quiet, secluded and beautiful, the Inn provides a peaceful and soothing atmosphere enhanced by its proximity to the area's natural wonders. Ventana is 28 miles south of Carmel and Monterey on California's Highway One, 150 miles south of San Francisco, and 300 miles north of Los Angeles.
